31 JULY 2003 SUVA (Pacnews) - Thirteen Fijians who went missing at sea over two weeks ago are now safe after their drifting boat was rescued by a Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) plane crew yesterday.
The 13 people, who are from Vunikodi in Udu Point, off the northern-most tip of Vanua Levu in Fiji, had set sail on the Manu Duitagi for nearby Naqelelevu to attend traditional ceremonies when their boat underwent mechanical problems twelve days ago.
A search for the missing vessel was started by police and the Fiji Navy's search and rescue team last week before assistance from New Zealand Air Force assistance was requested.
