U.S. women's national team primed for World Cup tourney.(Sports)

While we remain abuzz with the way the U.S. men's national team played in the 2002 World Cup - making it to the quarterfinals - we are just two weeks away from the U.S. women's national team beginning defense of its World Cup title.

The U.S. team believes its talent is greater than the talent collected for the 1999 World Cup team, although most of the 16 women's teams in the tournament would probably report the same thing and be accurate in doing so.

U.S. defender Brandi Chastain is among the players who have spoken highly of the talent available to coach April Heinrichs once the games begin Sept. 21.
