Sep. 14--Financial experts routinely groan about the high cost of variable annuities. But not all variable annuities earn their wrath.
James Hunt, a life insurance actuary affiliated with the Consumer Federation of America, said he recommends low-cost variable annuities sold by the Vanguard Group and TIAA-CREF Life Insurance Co. The two fund companies have long been known for charging low fees on investment products.
