The soy drinks sector and associated segments of the total non- alcoholic beverage market in Australia showed little change for some years, but in the last two they have received a boost from the emphasis on promoting soy milk and soy derivatives as health products. A recent survey showed that just over one million Australians, approximately 8% of those aged 14 and over, consume soy milk in an average seven-day period and, of those who regularly drink soy milk, 16% of their beverage volume is soy-based.
