In a year when most personal service benefits have been reduced or eliminated, pet insurance has managed to keep its paw-hold in the market.
According to the 2003 SHRM Benefits Survey, 3% of employers are offering pet insurance this year, the same as in 2002. In fact, SHRM indicates that pet insurance is one of only six in a list of 20 personal services benefits that were not cut this year.
LIMRA International, which tracks voluntary benefit trends, reports similar findings. "Four percent of employers offered pet insurance in 2002 and another 2% said they were interested in providing it," says Bonnie Brazzell, vice president at Eastbridge Consulting ...
