Sep. 17--Consumers targeted by the recording industry for sharing music online are finding powerful allies in the nation's two biggest phone companies.
The record labels' latest effort to curb piracy by identifying and suing individual Internet file swappers is drawing opposition from Verizon Communications Inc. and SBC Communications Inc., which claim the campaign violates basic privacy rights.
