OVER the past few decades, there has been an inexplicable rise in cases of eczema, the skin condition that brings untold misery to thousands of children and adults.
Back in the 1950s,only 3pc of five to 16 year olds were diagnosed with eczema,compared with 20pc in 2000. But in spite of its prevalence,eczema is still regularly misunderstood,and it is not unusual for a child to be ostracised about their appearance or shunned because classmates mistakenly believe it is catching.
