Sep. 18--It looked like anything but a coincidence.
Toyota was considering San Antonio for its second Tundra pickup plant mere months after entering the Mexican market. With the Alamo City's position 150 miles from the Laredo border crossing, it seemed easy to discern at least one of the automaker's motivations.
And plenty of observers asserted that San Antonio's location surely would give it an edge over arch rival Marion, Ark.
It made perfect sense -- to all but Toyota officials, apparently.
