Sister Nancy Morris was celebrating her golden jubilee as a nun when she received the call.
Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest needed her to be its interim head of school for one year after the previous head, Sister Carol Campbell, fell ill and was unable to work.
Sister Morris was working in development and helping with a newsletter at a school in the San Francisco area. While she was familiar with Woodlands, having worked in Chicago from 1995 to 1997, moving away from her home state for a year was a serious decision.
