CLOSED-DOOR MEETING OF PRESIDENTS BEGINS CIS SUMMIT IN YALTA

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is taking part in the CIS summit, which began on Friday morning in Yalta with a closed-door meeting of CIS presidents. During the meeting, the leaders of the Commonwealth are free to discuss any issues, which did not find their way into the official agenda for the summit.

A source told Interfax that Georgian President Edward Shevardnadze is planning to use the closed-door meeting to discuss the ways of settling the conflict between Georgia and Abkhazia.

Subsequently, the CIS leaders will continue their meeting with an agenda of 18 items.
