Paternoster packs in food outlets for empty offices.

PATERNOSTER Square celebrates its longawaited reopening today with the prospect of a new Conran restaurant, but the embarrassment of swathes of pre-let offices lying empty.

Major tenants including Goldman Sachs and the London Stock Exchange are struggling to sublet great tracts of space while food outlets are queuing to open up on the site.

Paternoster's office vacancy levels are the latest twist in the controversial 15-year battle to redevelop the 5.5 acres next to St Paul's Cathedral, formerly home to a 1960s office block, which has attracted attention from the Prince of Wales.
