Article: Autothermal reformer promises to lower investment costs for making syngas.(Chementator)

The Institute of Applied Energy (IAE; Tokyo; iae.or.jp), with the support of Toyo Engineering Corp. (TEC; Narashino), and Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth (RITE; Kyoto, both Japan), is developing a new autothermal reactor (ATR) for steam reforming of natural gas into hydrogen and carbon monoxide (syngas). The new design is expected to considerably ease the design criteria for steam reforming, thereby reducing investment costs.
