Article: Swinney's support crumbles as more MSPs join revolt.

Byline: EDDIE BARNES

SNP leader John Swinney is facing a growing rebellion from his own backbenches after two MSPs last night announced they would not be backing him in the forthcoming leadership vote.

South of Scotland MSP Adam Ingram and West of Scotland newcomer Bruce McFee said they would not support the party leader in the vote at the party's national conference next week.

Their move is a significant blow to Mr Swinney and is likely to be followed by further snubs from disgruntled backbenchers opposed to the way he is running the party.

It means he cannot claim to have the full support of his team of MSPs who were elected in May.
