Users evaluate Adonis, a CD-ROM database of biomedical journal articles.

Adonis workstations provide immediate access to biomedical journal articles stored in facsimile format on CD-ROM. Every article from over 200 journal titles published since January 1987 has been added to the database.

The Adonis system was designed for use in document supply centers in an attempt to increase academic journal publishing revenues. However, the system can also be seen as a prototype of the workstations that may be present in every academic library, if not on every researcher's desk, in the foreseeable future.
