SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) -- Rep. Kang Sam-jae of the major opposition Grand National Party (GNP) announced Wednesday that he would resign his parliamentary seat and retire from politics.The announcement comes in the wake of a Seoul court's ruling Tuesday that Kang serve four years in jail and pay 73.1 billion won (US$63.4 million) in fines for the misuse of 119.7 billion won from the budget of the nation's top intelligence agency in 1995, when he was secretary general of the then-ruling Democratic Liberal Party.
