RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- North Carolina's electric cooperatives are close to restoring power to nearly every structure that can accept it. This evening, there are 3,680 remaining outages spread across four northeastern electric cooperatives. At the height of Hurricane Isabel, 127,000 electric cooperative customers lost power.
The remaining cooperatives with hurricane-related outages are Albemarle Electric Membership Corporation (EMC), Hertford; Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative (EC), Buxton; Roanoke EC, Rich Square; and Tideland EMC based in Pantego.
