Sep. 26--The Duluth Seaway Port Authority has joined the scrum of entities seeking tax-free status for lands they hope to develop with help from a soon-to-be-launched state program.
Board members on Thursday unanimously approved a resolution asking the city of Duluth to include 140 acres of property in its application for a Job Opportunity Building Zone -- commonly referred to by its acronym, JOBZ.
The Minnesota Legislature this year created 10 zones statewide.
Companies that locate in the zones will benefit from state tax exemptions.
