The American sculptor Sally James Farnham (1869-1943) will be the subject of a forthcoming biography. In 1896 she married Paulding Farnham, the chief designer and director of the jewelry division at Tiffany and Company in New York City. Five years later, ill and confined to a hospital bed, she was given modeling clay and began sculpting small figures. Frederic Remington, a childhood friend, encouraged her in her artwork.
