The view of the 110-foot Salmon River Falls in Orwell just got better for people with disabilities.
A major renovation of the parking lot and the 1,100-foot Falls Trail was completed this week. The new trail and observation areas use finely rolled stone, which makes a smooth surface for wheelchair travel.
Dave Forness, a supervising forester for the state Department of Environmental Conservation, said the trail was deteriorating until $41,229 for improvements came in from the National Recreational Trails Fund.
