The Atlantic Coast Conference plans to discuss scenarios with Notre Dame officials to entice the Fighting Irish into becoming at least a partial member by the end of 2005, while leaving open the option of full membership in the future.
However, what the ACC has to offer is nothing Notre Dame hasn't already heard and will soon hear again from the Big East Conference.
"We've had conversations with Notre Dame," Syracuse University chancellor Ken Shaw said Thursday. "They weren't conversations designed to find a way to keep them in the conference. They are conversations designed to maximize their participation."
