THE LAST time I visited Gibraltar was with a Spanish girlfriend ten years ago. Having spent much of the journey from the Costa del Sol railing against the English 'pirates' who had stolen The Rock from Spain, her tone changed as we walked along the town's scruffy high street.
'It's a dump,' she concluded, 'you can keep it.' But Gibraltar has changed for the better since those days.
