A representative of residents and business owners on Jim Thorpe's west side on Thursday called for PPL Corp. to hire a company to determine why the power keeps going off in the borough, and what should be done to fix it.
But PPL spokesman Paul Canevari said hiring a consultant would be an expensive proposition, and the company already is using its own employees to try to improve electric reliability to the borough.
"This is a difficult problem with no easy solutions," Canevari said. "We are open to any options or any combination of options that can improve the situation in Jim Thorpe."
