Microsoft has appointed Yoshihiro Maruyama as the head of its Japanese Xbox business. Maruyama is a former CEO of the US business of electronic game developer Square, currently operating as Square Enix. His new appointment is effective from 1 October 2003. Microsoft has some difficulties in increasing its market share of game consoles in Japan. Sales of its Xbox consoles account only for two per cent of the total number of such machines sold in Japan. The market is dominated by Sony and Nintendo. ...
