Jul. 2--Nevada's current tax standoff could affect the state's bond ratings and thus the cost of borrowing for public projects, State Treasurer Brian Krolicki said Tuesday.
The state financial official commented in the wake of the legislative impasse over tax increases and the state budget. When the Legislature failed to pass a tax package by midnight Monday's deadline, Gov. Kenny Guinn and Attorney General Brian Sandoval filed a lawsuit to force lawmakers to balance the budget.
