Article: Peoples Energy Resources Trims Water Plan for Plant in Rio Communities, N.M.

Jul. 11--RIO COMMUNITIES, N.M. -- The company planning a 280-megawatt natural gas-fueled power plant here has adjusted its design to use significantly less water, the company said.

Peoples Energy Resources said that by changing the cooling system, it will use less than 15 acre-feet of water per year; the old plan would require about 100 acre-feet per year.

"We have listened to the concerns of the people and have taken these concerns back to our engineers," said Cameron Epard, director of power generation for the company.
