TONY BLAIR will this week face the toughest party conference of his political career as he is forced to admit that his leadership has lost touch with rank-and-file members.
He will also acknowledge that controversial New Labour policies have been poorly presented and will pledge that future ideas must pass a 'fairness test'.
But Mr Blair will refuse to concede he was wrong over Iraq, and there will be no U-turns on plans which have sparked a revolt by party members and unions and which threaten his premiership.
