District 34 board is hoping next spring brings state grant.(News)

Winfield Elementary District 34 officials said Thursday they are hopeful the district will receive a $2.3 million state construction grant next year.

School Superintendent Diane Cody said the district just missed receiving the money in the budget passed by state legislators and signed by Gov. Rod Blagojevich this past spring.

The money was to boost funds for an expansion and renovation of Winfield Middle School and Winfield Elementary School near Beecher Avenue and Winfield Road.
