Dynamet gains grants to study wear-resistant titanium alloys.(Industry News)

Dynamet Technology Inc, USA, has received a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR Phase 2) grant from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop wear-resistant orthopaedic lumbar implants made of a wear-resistant metal matrix composite.

The study will use Dynamet's titanium alloy composite and the company's powder metallurgy production process to develop prosthetic implants that demonstrate improved wear-resistance compared to conventional artificial joints that have a metal ball-plastic socket design.
