Sep. 28--HARVEYS LAKE, Pa. -- Not surprisingly, sewers top the list of key issues for the eight candidates vying for four open council seats.
Illegal sewage discharges into the lake caused the state Department of Environmental Protection to cite the borough in June and resulted in a moratorium on new hookups.
Republican hopeful Francis Kopko said he thinks poor maintenance has exacerbated problems with the sewer system. If elected, he would implement a program of regular inspections and maintenance of pump stations and manholes.
