The Commonwealth Government has just released the South East Regional Marine Plan (SERMP) for public comment (closing 17 October).
Australia's southern waters host globally significant levels of marine diversity and uniqueness (85 per cent of species are found nowhere else in the world). The region is also integral to the survival of many threatened species, including the critically endangered blue whale and the southern right whale.
