WATER HEATING FOR CLEANING, SHOWERS, washing dishes and clothes is the single biggest greenhouse polluting activity in our homes. Around 30 per cent of the greenhouse pollution from your home comes from water heating but only around 5 per cent of Australian homes have a solar water heater.
If you live in Brisbane, Darwin or somewhere else in northern Australia, water heating probably accounts for around 40 per cent of your energy bill. If you switch to a solar water heater when your current water heater bites the dust, you can save up to five tonnes of greenhouse pollution every year.
