We first noticed them during the summer. Our kitchen table is at the front of the house, and through the bay window, I could see beautiful - and very, very large - birds floating in the sky above nearby Sandholm Woods Park.
They were there at about the same time just about every night, soaring and swooping, riding the thermal air currents in an aerial ballet of beauty.
We thought they were hawks. Then one day, my husband got a closer look, and began investigating.
Turns out the birds aren't hawks, they're turkey vultures. They're living at Sandholm Woods, on Sandholm Street on Geneva's near east side.
