Sep. 28--Kodiak Island and other remote areas in Alaska may have cables connected to them in the near future.
A group of local and state political leaders and private investors met via teleconference recently to hash out ideas for financing and constructing an undersea fiber optic cable from mainland Alaska to Kodiak Island.
The meeting was conducted in Anchorage Aug. 29 by representatives of Kodiak Kenai Fiber Link LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Old Harbor Native Corp.
