BRENTWOOD, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 2003
Community Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CYH) announced today the acquisition of Mercy Health Center in Laredo, Texas, from the Sisters of Mercy Health System in St. Louis, Missouri. This acquisition includes a 326-bed hospital as well as an ambulatory care center, a diagnostic center, a cancer center and several medical office buildings. The hospital was built in 1999 and will be renamed Laredo Medical Center. Laredo is on the Rio Grande River and is located approximately 140 miles south of San Antonio, Texas.
