Job Growth Still Slowing in Santa Fe, N.M., Area.

Sep. 30--It couldn't last forever -- the Santa Fe area's low unemployment rate, that is. Over much of last year it was one of the lowest in the country.

More recently, however, that rate has started to climb -- in July it rose to 3.3 percent, up from 3.1 percent in June and way up from July 2002, when it was 2.7 percent.

At the same time, gross-receipts proceeds received by the city of Santa Fe were flat for September, although those proceeds are up for the first three months of the city's fiscal year.

As could be expected, Santa Fe's economy is not producing jobs like it used to ...
