At least five raccoon incidents in two days - sick raccoons, trapped raccoons, raccoons as big as dogs - and no one, least of all the Northfield police, bats an eye.
"It was a slow week with raccoons, actually," Police Chief Gary Smith said. This, despite several reports of odd raccoon behavior and at least one raccoon death by shooting.
"We've had some mild winters," Smith said, "and people think it's cute to feed the things, so as a result we have a lot of raccoons."
