SNOW TRAILS INSURANCE DEAL MAY BE NEAR; SNOWMOBILE CLUBS DON'T WANT ANOTHER COVERAGE SNAG THAT HALTED RIDING LAST YEAR.(Local)

The state's snowmobiling community says it's close to solving an insurance problem that led to the temporary closing of trails at the height of riding season last winter.

But as of today, the coverage that protected snowmobile clubs ran out. Northfield Insurance Co. notified New York's snowmobiling clubs that it would cancel policies effective today, according to the New York State Snowmobile Association.

Officials say they are hopeful of obtaining new, better coverage soon that would provide a long-term solution.
