After what seems like a couple of years of absence, I am pleased to report that our neighborhood once again has its resident toads.
Although we had begun to see toads early in the summer, their presence became very apparent the other day as my neighbor, Jay Johnson, mowed his lawn. He had to keep stopping to pick up toads that were in the way of the mower. Big toads, medium-size toads and baby toads were all hopping about just in the confines of his small yard.
His daughter, Renate Johnson, observed a tiny one in a Tupperware container for a while. It was no bigger than a thumbnail.
