Oct. 2--Port Manatee, which already has sent two shipments of an animal-feed supplement to Cuba, might be shipping the animals next.
The port could be the departure point for the first shipment of Florida beef cattle to Cuba since the U.S. trade embargo was enacted more than 40 years ago, officials said Wednesday.
"Port Manatee is being considered for this," said Arthur Savage of A.R. Savage & Son, a Tampa shipping agent involved in the sale.
The decision will be made by Cuba and the seller, J.P. Wright & Co. Inc. in Naples, he said.
