BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J., Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- One in four moms reports delaying the treatment of her child's allergies, often because of the negative side effects that some medications can cause, such as sedation and irritability, according to the 2003 Claritin Pediatric Allergy Survey(1), which also found that, on average, children miss a week and a half of school each year due to allergies. These findings support a National Institutes of Health statistic, which shows that American children miss as many as 2 million school days a year due to allergies.
