Linger in the halls of a typical insurance carrier, and you're likely to hear the term "policy life-cycle management," referring to the process of managing insurance policies from the cradle (quote and issuance) through maturity (claims, endorsements, etc.) to the grave (cancellation).
Automating these processes has long been the ultimate goal of carrier management teams--and the Waterloo of many CIOs. Even the "successful" projects often fail to live up to expectations.
