Kobe Steel to Absorb Joint Venture with Alcoa.

Oct. 2--TOKYO--Kobe Steel Ltd. said Thursday it will absorb KSL Aluminum Co. (Kaal), its aluminum sheet-making joint venture with Alcoa Inc. of the United States, on Dec. 1.

Kaal manufactures aluminum sheets for sale to can makers. The planned absorption is designed to enable Kobe Steel to obtain control of all stages of aluminum sheet manufacturing from ingot melting to final products, it said.
