In July 2003, the first strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between a U.S. port, the Port of Corpus Christi, and Cuba was signed. The Port of Corpus Christi and Cuba's import agency, ALIMPORT, headed by Mr. Pedro Alvarez, will soon see benefits of this agreement. The first two ships under this cooperative strategic agreement are expected to load approximately 20,000 tons of wheat at the Archer Daniel Midland's (ADM) Corpus Christi facility the second week in October.
