Thailand exhibited remarkable economic growth during the 1980s and is expected to continue to do so through the mid1990s.
The country's economic performance was particularly impressive during the last half of the decade, when the annual growth rate averaged 7.6 percent. Thailand closed out the decade with two consecutive years of double-digit growth--13.2 percent in 1988 and 12.2 percent in 1989.
