Article: Long-term use of inhaled steroids may increase risk of cataracts.

2003 OCT 8 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Long-term use of inhaled steroids to prevent asthma symptoms may increase the risk of cataracts, suggests new research.

Previous research has indicated that systemic steroids increase the risk of cataract, but whether the inhaled variety also carries a risk has not been known.

The study is published in the October 2003 issue of the British Journal of Ophthalmology.
