FOXBORO - The United States demonstrated on Wednesday night in its Women's World Cup quarterfinal vs. Norway at Gillette Stadium how a dominating performance doesn't always translate into a blowout victory.
The defending World Cup champions were superior in every statistical manner and had Mia Hamm converted a penalty kick, the team could have walked off with a 2-0 result that would have more accurately reflected their control over the game.
Even with Norway, a team that in the past had beaten and eliminated the United States in the World Cup and Olympics, now out of the title hunt, the road is unlikely to get any easier for the Americans. They ...
