OAKLAND, Calif. -- Oakland left-hander Barry Zito was wired.
He got the call to start Game 2 of the American League division series against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday afternoon, less than 14 hours after the A's had pulled out a 12-inning victory in Game 1 thanks to Ramon Hernandez's bases-loaded, two-out bunt.
Zito had gone home early Wednesday night, ostensibly to get a good night's rest, but he wound up tossing and turning in bed, listening to every pitch, and went straight into the film room once he got to the ballpark Thursday morning to watch a replay of what he heard.
