Soccer wouldn't seem to be affected by the equipment issues that other sports face. Players don't have to deal with bats and gloves like in baseball and softball, or the goggles now required in field hockey and girls lacrosse, or even the full pads and helmets that are a part of life in football, hockey and boys lacrosse.
But safety and injuries continue to be a concern on soccer fields, leading to rule changes in the last couple of years geared toward helping to prevent such incidents.
