THE Asian Bankers Association (ABA) is the biggest grouping of banks and financial institutions in the AsiaPacific region. Organized in Taipei on October 29, 1981, as one of the service councils of the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry and then called the Asian Bankers Council, the ABA provides a forum for advancing the cause of the banking and finance industry in the region and promoting regional economic cooperation ABAs membership currently includes 120 of the leading banks in some 25 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
