LAKES OUTLASTS WHITE RIVER WIN STREAK HITS 41.(Sports)

Byline: DEREK BELT Special to the P-I

BUCKLEY -- Some things just aren't meant to be, and White River over Lakes is one of them.

For the most part, the Hornets outplayed Lakes last night, but they tossed three second-half interceptions as the Lancers eked out a narrow 19-14 victory in front of a packed house at Sheets Field.

It was Lakes' 41st consecutive regular-season victory and fifth in a row over the Hornets.

White River was the last team to beat Lakes in the regular season, winning a double-overtime game in Buckley more than four years ago. But the Hornets' turnovers and a solid second half by the Lancers ensured that history wouldn't repeat itself.
